1. During Checkout
At checkout, users select a payment method from the available options (e.g., Credit Card, PayPal, etc.).
You can enter new payment details (card number, expiration date, etc.) if needed.
Some Payment Gateways offer “Save this card for future purchases” — the user can tick this box if they want.
2. In Their Account Settings
After buying (or even before), users can manage saved payment methods:
Add New Payment Method
(e.g., adding a new credit card or linking a new PayPal account)
Edit Existing Payment Methods
(e.g., updating expiry dates, billing address)
Delete a Payment Method
(e.g., remove an old card)
Set a Default Payment Method
(so future checkouts are faster)
3. Security Features
Users often have to re-enter their password (or use two-factor authentication) when adding or deleting payment methods for security.
Sensitive data (like full card numbers) is usually hidden or masked (e.g., only showing the last 4 digits).
4. Order Management
If users want to change the payment method after placing an order (not always possible), they usually contact customer support.
